Kok Honey

About Kok Honey...

Why “Kok” Honey?? Well, our family name is “Kok”. When you have a name like ours the best thing to do is to completely own it. So when we got some bees and started getting honey, it was only natural that Kok Honey came from that, so to speak.

We live in the paradise* known as Sydney’s Northern Beaches.  I have been fascinated by bees for years and finally during the 2020 annus horribilis I had some time to join a local bee club, construct a hive, collect a local bee swarm and fill the hive with bees.  We are fully registered with the NSW Department of Primary Industries and keep bees according to state and national guidelines.  This is incredibly important for the biosecurity of the Australian Bee Industry, and I’ve got to say it was a remarkably simple process.  How often do you get to say that about a Government!

Our Kok Honey is harvested direct from the hive using the “Flow” system, an Australian invention, which allows the honey to pour straight out of hive frames into a collection jar.  No messy decapping, centrifuges or extraction machines, no filters, no mess, no processing, 100% raw honey you cannot get in supermarkets.  Thing is, once you get some bees and they start producing honey, you have to keep harvesting their excess honey otherwise they get ‘honey-bound’ and swarm away.  So that means getting jars, sterilizing jars, filling jars, labelling jars and storing jars.  And when you get through of all the jars in your mum’s pantry or that your friends have dropped off, then you have to go searching for sources of more jars.  Basically it‘s an overwhelming jar situation.  So to deal with this jar issue we started selling these wonderful jars full of Kok Honey.

We have sold our “boutique” Kok Honey to local businesses and markets in the Northern Beaches.  Now we’ve set up this website so you can get your very own taste of Kok Honey!
